Terms of service

The service

Onaka provides a platform to discover beauty and wellness providers, view services, and book appointments. Providers are independent businesses or professionals; Onaka is not the employer of providers and does not perform the booked services.

Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter a binding contract. You are responsible for the accuracy of information you provide and for keeping your login credentials secure.

Bookings

• When you request or confirm a booking, you enter an agreement with the provider for that appointment, subject to their policies and availability.
• Cancellation, rescheduling, and no-show rules may vary by provider. Review booking details and any provider-specific terms before your appointment.
• We may cancel or modify bookings when necessary for operational, safety, or legal reasons, and will notify you when reasonably possible.

Payments

Prices, deposits, and payment methods are shown at checkout. Payments may be processed by third-party payment partners (for example PayFast or Paystack). You authorise charges for bookings you confirm. Refunds, where applicable, are handled according to provider policies and applicable law.

Your conduct

• Use the app lawfully and respectfully toward providers and other users.
• Do not harass, impersonate, scrape, reverse engineer, or disrupt the platform.
• Do not submit false bookings, fraudulent payment information, or misleading reviews.

Content and reviews

You retain ownership of content you submit, but grant Onaka a licence to use, display, and moderate it on the platform. We may remove content that violates these terms or applicable law.

Intellectual property

Onaka names, logos, app design, and software are owned by Onaka or its licensors. You receive a limited, non-exclusive licence to use the app for personal booking purposes.

Disclaimer

The service is provided “as is” to the extent permitted by law. We do not guarantee uninterrupted access, specific outcomes from treatments, or that every provider listing is error-free. Your use of provider services is at your own risk.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by South African law, Onaka is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for amounts exceeding what you paid to Onaka for the relevant booking in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law (including for death or personal injury caused by negligence where applicable).

Indemnity

You agree to indemnify Onaka against claims arising from your breach of these terms or misuse of the service, except where caused by Onaka’s gross negligence or wilful misconduct.

Termination

You may stop using the app and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you violate these terms or if we discontinue the service, with notice where reasonable.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa. Disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of South African courts, unless mandatory consumer protection rules in your country require otherwise.

Changes

We may update these terms. Material changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
